History
From 1890 to 1995, the Visiting Nurse Association of Chicago employed its own nurses and other health professionals to provide health care to the underprivileged. Now the VNA Foundation operates exclusively as a grantmaking foundation, giving financial support to nonprofit organizations offering home- and community-based care to the underserved. As a private, independent foundation, our grantmaking is supported by an endowment. VNA does not actively fundraise nor do we solicit donations; however, we are occasionally the grateful recipient of a bequest or contribution, which unless otherwise restricted, is distributed as grant funding.
Mission
Our methods have changed, but our mission has not: To support home- and community-based healthcare for the medically underserved in the Chicago metropolitan area.
