Reform is particularly important in our state because Illinois is one of 12 states that are projected to have the largest number of early deaths in the next ten years due to lack of health insurance. Illinois is also 6th among all 50 states and the District of Columbia in deaths among 25-64 year-olds due to lack of health insurance. (Families USA Foundation)
What can be done?
Beginning this year, health insurance companies can no longer deny coverage to children with preexisting conditions or drop people from coverage when they get sick, and they must allow young people up to their 26th birthday to remain on their parent’s policy. Read more about
